Happy Holidays to everyone! I hope that you all have had a wonderful and peaceful Christmas and are preparing for a great 2023! The end of the year always makes us pause to reflect on the past few months and how fast the year seems to have flown by.  As a city, we have had many projects accomplished, some that are still on going, and making plans for next year.  

I would like to thank everyone who voted in the November election and am very thankful the citizens passed the 2B, public safety measure.  Asking citizens to consider a tax increase measure is never easy, and I appreciate the time everyone took to think about it and vote.  This measure will ensure we maintain a safe and secure Fountain into the future. 

Additionally, the City has worked hard this year and continues to make progress on our Strategic Objectives.  City Council will receive an update in January on the status of our City Strategic Plan 2022-2024, which will be available to the public on our website, www.fountaincolorado.org.  

I’d also like to welcome our new fire chief, Chief Devin Graham to Fountain.  Chief Graham comes to us from New Mexico and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our community.  Welcome Chief Graham! The Fire Department is offering CPR training several times in the next year and I hope many of you will take the opportunity to attend the class and increase your own preparedness! As many know, our local newspaper is closing their doors, after over 64 years of service to our community.   As this year ends, I’d like to say thank you to the Fountain Valley News for their reporting and service to the Fountain Valley!  One of my favorite features in the weekly paper has always been the “Pages of the Past“section.  I enjoyed looking at the photos and write ups of the area and learning the history and names associated with them.  I am very sad to see them go and offer my warmest regards and best wishes to everyone who has served our hometown newspaper so well over the many years.
