Hey Fountain! What a great time everyone had a Fountain Fall Festival, and with the kids all back in school and the Autumn almost officially here, its time again to be sure you know about some of our annual community events in Fountain that we all enjoy so much. September is the start to many different events that the city both hosts or sponsors, and I wanted to take a few minutes to remind you of what is coming up!
September 17th : Community Night in the Park: A city hosted event for families at John Metcalfe Park, it includes games, kids’ activities, free food and giveaways! It starts at 4pm-7pm.
October 12th: Oh my Gourd & Nightmare on Main St. Dance: hosted by Fountain Up! and co-sponsored by the city, this event features an AMAZING pumpkin carving on the front steps of City Hall starting at 12pm, and then a dance in the courtyard in front of City Hall that evening at 5pm.
October 25th: Trunk or Treat: A city hosted event along Main St. at City Hall. Beginning at 5pm, bring your kids in their costumes to enjoy some fun Halloween displays and plenty of candy for all!
November 9th: Veterans Day Ceremony: Beginning at 11am, hosted at our own American Legion Post 38, with support from the VFW and the city, come celebrate those who have served and sacrificed for our great nation.
November 11th: Veterans Day Flag Raising: The Fountain Public Safety Color Guard will also do a Flag Raising the morning of Veterans Day starting at 9:00am at the Mayor’s Veterans Memorial Park.
November 22nd: Christmas Tree Lighting: Hosted by the city, officially ring in the holiday season in front of City Hall at 6pm and join us in this free event of lighting the city Christmas tree, hot chocolate, sweet treats and visiting with Santa!
December 7th: Miracle on Main: Hosted by Fountain Up! and co-sponsored by the city, starting at 9am this event is hosted inside city hall where kids can shop for Christmas gifts from a variety of hand crafted and donated items at an extremely affordable price!
All these events really reinforce our City Vision to be, “An All-America city with a strong sense of community, where you know you are home.” I’ll see you out there!
Lastly, I do want to also take a moment to remember September 11th, 2001. We will never forget those who were lost that terrible day, and as well those brave and selfless Americans who have served, and continue to serve, to protect our nation from terrorism and those who would do us harm.
Thank you,
Mayor Sharon Thompson
