RECORDS SECTION
The Records Section receives and maintains all records produced by the Police Department. This includes incident reports, accidents reports, arrest reports and traffic summonses.
To obtain a copy of a Police Report or Calls for Service, please fill out the Records Request Form.
Note:By law, if you are a victim of Certain Crimes (not all crimes) you may be eligible to receive a free copy of your report. Please select the Certain Crimes link for more information about eligibility.
To obtain a background check, for the City of Fountain only, please fill out the Background Check Form.
Record requests can be dropped off at the police station, located at 222 N Santa Fe Avenue, emailed to [email protected], or faxed to (719) 382-7790.
If you email your request form, please mail a check for the records you have requested based on the fees listed on the police department fee sheet which can be found here: Police Department Fee Sheet
**Records will not be mailed or emailed until payment and a picture of your photo ID has been received**

Once the report has been completed, and if the report is able to be released, it will be released within 3 business days. **Any copies of requested records will be held for 90 days. If not picked up within 90 days the copies will be destroyed and will need to be re-ordered and paid for again**
