LAB RESULTS
The State of Colorado adopted Health Advisory Limits (HAL) for three per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS): PFHpA, PFOS and PFOA. Per the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the sum of the concentrations of these three compounds for a lifetime exposure should not exceed 70 parts per trillion (70 ppt).
In addition to routine sampling throughout the water system, weekly tests are performed at each Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) treatment unit to ensure delivered water does not exceed the HAL. Fountain tests for six (6) PFAS concentrations present in groundwater sources: PFOA, PFOS, PFNA, PFHxS, PFHpA and PFBS.
On June 18, 2018, the City of Fountain began distributing safe, treated drinking water from its groundwater wells after receiving certified laboratory results (dated May 28, 2018) indicating PFAS levels were non-detectable.
